FAQ'S

We are sure you have many questions to ask - especially if this is the first time you have hired a motorhome. 

Please look through the questions and answers and if you have not got the answer you need please feel free to contact us.

CAN I COME TO SEE THE VEHICLE BEFORE BOOKING?

You are more than welcome to come and take a look at the vehicle inside and out. Just give us a call and we can arrange a time for you to view.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS INCLUDED?

We provide the following items as standard with all vehicles.  1 x full gas bottle, an electrical hook up lead, food grade water pipe, cutlery/crockery set (includes cups, plates, bowls, glasses and cutlery set), pans, kettle, chopping board, tea towels, dish cloths and brush, dustpan & brush, vacuum cleaner and kitchen utensils. Washing up liquid and cleaning fluids. Mattress protectors and bottom sheets. All you need to bring is your duvets and pillows.

The motorhomes also come with a fitted bike rack which accommodates four bikes,TV/DVD an a selection of DVDs and a wind out awning. Five deck chairs and a folding outdoor table.

HOW LONG DOES COLLECTION AND RETURN TAKE?

Please allow an hour for collection and return to enable us to provide you with a thorough vehicle handover and demonstration and a thorough vehicle return check at the end of your trip.  (On booking we will also provide links to instructional videos which may save time during handover.) During the handover we will show you how the vehicle, its appliances and equipment work and complete the necessary documentation.  

To assist a smooth vehicle return check, please ensure that the vehicle has a full tank of fuel, all contents of the vehicle as per the inventory are present and that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as when you collected it, including the appliances.  Please also ensure that the toilet cassette and cassette housing has been emptied and thoroughly cleaned.

DO I NEED TO TAKE OUT ANY INSURANCE?

We recommend that customers obtain adequate holiday / travel insurance and personal effects insurance in order to cover any unforeseen circumstances, accidents and events beyond yours and our control.  You may want to consult your own vehicle, home and/or travel insurance providers to establish whether you already have sufficient cover in place.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED TO PROVIDE?

For the named driver we require sight of your Driving Licence and Driving Licence check code, which you can obtain from the DVLA under the “Get your check code” tab at https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.  This enables us to carry out the necessary checks prior to hire and ensure all runs smoothly on the date your hire commences.

For the named driver we also require a proof of address, which can be a utility bills/statements less than 90 days old such as water, electric/gas, broadband, landline, your most recent bank, credit card or mortgage statement or your current years council tax bill.  

The addresses on your driving licence and identification documents must be identical and your current permanent address, otherwise we may not be able to insure your booking, in which case your booking would be treated as a cancellation by the hirer in line with our Terms and Conditions.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ON THE DAY I COLLECT THE VEHICLE?

You have the option to bring your own bedding, pillow and towels, although we can provide these to hire if you wish at an additional cost of £15 per person.  Additionally you will need to bring your own food, drink and toiletries.  Please bear in mind storage space is limited.  

 

Assuming you have provided all identification documents (see question on documentation our Terms and Conditions) in advance of the day the hire period commences you will need to bring your photocard driving licence or passport if you have an old style driving licence, such that we can carry out a physical likeness check of each named driver to the photo.  If you haven’t provided all identification documents ahead of the hire period commencing you will also need to bring the documentation referred to in the documentation question above.

WHAT IF THE VEHICLE BREAKS DOWN?

All our vehicles are under three years old and well maintained meaning that breakdown is unlikely.  However, in this unlikely event, our vehicles have 24 hour roadside Assistance cover as standard.   If you have any problems with the onboard appliances/equipment please refer in the first instance to the onboard guides and/or contact us for advice.

WHAT IF I WANT TO CANCEL?

You are able to cancel but as a minimum you will forfeit your booking deposit of £150.  Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for details of our cancellation policy.

WHAT TIME CAN I COLLECT AND RETURN THE VEHICLE?

Your collection time will be after 3pm on the day your hire period commences, we will agree a specific collection time in advance as collections will need to be staggered throughout this window in busy periods.  This allows us to fully valet inside and out.  If the vehicle is ready earlier we will call you to let you know.  If the vehicle is not being returned from another booking on the day of your hire then we would endeavour to ensure you could collect from 8.30am - however we cannot guarantee this. You will need to return the vehicle between 8.30am and 11am on the day your hire period ends.  We may be able to arrange a late return by prior agreement and subject to additional charges of £30 per hour.  Please note that unauthorised late returns will incur additional charges in accordance with our Terms and Conditions as it will inconvenience the next customer.

CAN I DRIVE A MOTORHOME ON A STANDARD CAR DRIVING LICENCE?

Yes, all of our motorhomes weigh under 3,500kg, which is the maximum allowed under a standard UK car driving licence.  However, if your driving licence is for automatic vehicles only then you would only be eligible to drive automatic vehicles which we do not have at present on our fleet.

WHAT INSURANCE IS PROVIDED AND ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS?

Insurance is provided only for the vehicle and for any equipment that comes with the vehicle. As standard the vehicle has comprehensive insurance for one named driver, providing that the driver has held a full UK or EU licence for a minimum of 2 years and is aged between 25 and 70.  All named drivers are required to meet additional specific insurance requirements, details of which can be found in our Terms and Conditions.  The insurance does not cover windscreen, windows, tyres, wheels, the undercarriage or your personal belongings. You will therefore be liable for the full cost of damage to these.

WHEN DO I PAY?

You will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £150 at the time of booking in order to secure your booking and this will be documented in the booking confirmation we email to you.  The balance is due 6 weeks ahead of the date the hire commences, failing which we reserve the right to rent out the vehicle to someone else, and you will forfeit your booking deposit.  We will email you to remind you to pay your balance.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A SECURITY DEPOSIT?

Yes we require a security deposit of £750, which must be paid in cleared funds (by bank transfer or by credit/debit card) before the hire commences. This is to cover items such as, but not limited to, damage/loss to the vehicle/equipment, fines or legal charges you incur during the hire (such as parking fines, speeding fines, road tolls, etc), the possibility that the vehicle is returned late, the possibility that the vehicle is returned without a full tank of fuel, the possibility that the vehicle is not returned in a clean and satisfactory condition.  We will return the security deposit via bank transfer, net of any deductions (should there be any), within 7 working days of the end of your hire period.  Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for full details of our security deposit policy.

CAN I LEAVE MY CAR AT YOUR PREMISES?

Yes we are happy to store one car per booking free of charge during your hire period, though we ask that you advise us in advance if you would like us to do so, which you can do during the booking.  Parking at our business address is not advised as it is on an industrial estate but we are happy for you to park your car on our driveway at our home address in Hedon just outside Hull. Though we must advise, we cannot accept responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, your vehicle or its contents, whilst it is stored with us, unless such damage or loss is caused by our negligence.

CAN I SMOKE IN THE VEHICLE?

No, we politely advise that it is forbidden to smoke or vape inside the vehicle or awning and we ask that this rule is respected. You will be liable for any damage (including odour) caused to either, or their contents, through smoking.
